I am unable to connect apple tv 4th generation using ethernet

I am unable to connect apple tv 4th generation using ethernet cable. I get an error message saying unable to connect to the internet, although the settings recognize ethernet is connected. What do I need to do?

Apple TV (4th generation), tvOS 9.2.2
